Introducing Audio Boost AI: A New Tool for Wholesale Vehicle Buyers
3 mins
Vehicle engine noise can have a big impact on valuation and can affect not just your bidding and buying strategy, but how quickly you re-stock your lot. OPENLANE’s new Audio Boost AI — available on all dealer-consigned vehicles — provides buyers with a better understanding of a vehicle’s engine noise and a faster way to evaluate vehicle listings.
What is Audio Boost AI?
Audio Boost AI is a powerful tool that gives you more confidence when bidding by providing a new layer of information: high-quality engine audio recordings that can visually flag engine noise anomalies identified by an inspector in the condition report. It gives you back valuable time by helping you to make faster, more informed decisions, allowing you more time to spend retailing.
What’s included in Audio Boost AI?
Audio Boost AI provides a detailed audio inspection that includes:
- High-quality engine noise recording on all dealer listings.
- AI-generated visual highlights of detected engine noise anomalies the inspector has flagged.
- Sample “normal” engine recordings of the same or similar vehicles for comparison.
How does Audio Boost AI Work?
The tool is able to enhance the work of an OPENLANE experienced inspector, by using an AI listening tool that compares your vehicle’s engine recording to a wide database of engine recordings of the same or similar vehicles to identify engine noise anomalies. And for almost all vehicles (over 95% — and counting!), if an upper or lower engine issue is detected a sample recording of a “normal” engine for a similar vehicle is included in the condition report so you can listen and compare for yourself.

Here’s how it works:
No engine noise anomalies noted by an inspector: When the inspector identifies no engine noise issues, the “Engine Analysis” section of the vehicle condition report (CR) will display a green alert banner indicating no engine noise issues reported.

Inspector Flags an Issue: If the inspector notes there is an engine noise issue, the CR will instead display a yellow alert banner in the Engine Analysis section showing an engine noise issue has been reported. That’s also when Audio Boost AI kicks in, comparing the recorded vehicle’s engine noise to engine recordings of similar vehicles and visually highlighting detected anomalies — a new innovation only available on OPENLANE. You’ll see exactly where there may be potential issues, and know where to listen more closely. And for over 95% of vehicles, you’ll be able to listen and compare the engine recording to a sample recording of a “normal” engine noise for that vehicle — all from directly within the CR, without scrolling or jumping between open tabs.
