New features to help you buy and sell easier
OPENLANE has new features to make purchasing and selling wholesale vehicles easier and faster than ever. Here are some exciting new enhancements to the website:

  • Six new Floorplan Options: We’ve added Comerica Bank, Bank of the West, Huntington National Bank, Fifth Third Bank, Nissan Motors Acceptance Corp and
    Chase Finance.
  • Mobile Site update: The mobile site now supports 2 new features – 1 Click Rebid and Pre-selected Default Checkout Options.
  • Dealer Account Update Notification: A message will appear at the top of OPENLANE if your Dealer Account is not current.
  • New Postings in Announcements: Frame, Title and Odometer disclosures are now highlighted in the Announcements section of the Vehicle Detail Page.
  • As-Is Listing: Limit arbitrations and list your trade-ins and other aged inventory as
    “As-Is.”
  • Fees for Double Sales: Sellers will be penalized when a vehicle sells then turns out to not be available.

OPENLANE Market Index

The OPENLANE Market Index represents pricing and dealer vehicle interest trends across all vehicle segments in our online marketplace. Highlights for the U.S. include:

  • Overall US auction prices in May increased by 2 percentage points from the prior month, and also ended 2 percentage points above May 2010
  • Car and Minivan prices increased in May versus the prior month, while SUV prices remained even with April. Truck prices decreased slightly in May, continuing the decline that began in March.

Search Interest Report
The OPENLANE Search Interest Report ranks the most common vehicle searches on the Open Auction. This report includes the top 25 ranking for make and model as well as the top 5 ranking for vehicles by body style.

OPENLANE’s subsidiary, Recovery Database Network (RDN), is partnering with KeyCode Pro to develop a customized user interface that is intended to allow RDN subscribers to order a key code from KeyCode Pro within the RDN software environment. Click here for the full story.

Dealer Spotlight


Gary Hackman and his brother Robbie are the co-owners of Speedway Auto – an independent used car dealership in Fullerton, California. Their passion for automobiles started in their teenage years when their father, Paul, worked for a car lot in 1949 where they would drive, sell and even wholesale cars to other dealers around downtown LA. Operating now for more than 10 years, Gary has realized the importance of doing business online and totally shifted away from the old way of thinking.

“We’ve always preferred to buy from franchises rather than at auctions because that is how we learned to buy. I was hesitant about buying online but times have changed and you have to be sharp and move fast or you will be left behind! A friend recommended OPENLANE in 2006 and with the help of my sales rep, Andrew Kittle, it took no time at all to start buying online. I was surprised at how easy it was! Now, I talk to Andrew on a daily basis and not only does he find great cars for me but he also helped my wholesale/retail operation at a time when cars are scarce as well as pricey! They work both sides of the deal to make both parties happy, and that is so helpful these days! OPENLANE helped me reduce the margin between wholesale and retail and for me outsells all the other internet vendors three to one, if not more. I currently do over 25% of my wholesaling with them, and my goal is to triple that number in the next 12 -18 months.
